FOX 5

This was aired on FOX5 today, I got a call the day before from Crol, he was kind enough to ask me to be apart of a segment spotlighting the H&nds project. Being the media whore I' am I said yes! He told me the specifics about it and he wasn't to clear about the wall or what we are painting on. He told me I can paint what ever I wanted. So being unprepared because of short notice I grabbed my black book and my paintbox and threw it in the car.

The next day I arrived around 5:15 am , but was at the wrong location I ended up at the old location which is now the WB Channel 5. I didn't realize the changed locations since the last time I did anything for FOX was around 1998. So I finally arrived to the scene around 530. Crol and crew followed suit. We set up and got to work around 6am.

I busted out my outline sorta free styled it, which I hate doing so half way Through... I was approached by a big titted woman who asked me if I could go over what I painted with a city scape. luckily for me I had someone to step in and basically told her to fuck off in a nice way and I was able to continue . I wish I was able to paint a better piece. I was under allot of pressure finishing by 9am with borrowed paint and a some what Frankenstein outline. oh well remember kids always be prepared.....not to mention I didn't expect to be interviewed so I was really nervous and I don't really like surprise questions from the media.

Now I wondering how long my piece will stay up!....i will do a day by day to see how long it will last.

man! I'm over weight hahaha, I need to loose a few pounds like 50 of them...going to ride a bike now!!!

Battle Grounds (z) 2010

I finally had the chance to paint at this event that goes on down in Chula Vista, Ca. The name of the event is called "Battle Groundz*" ...I don't know why...but "hip hop" promoters, Dj's etc... have to always replace a perfectly fine "S" with a "Z" this shit drives me nuts! when did this "type" of nonsence start ? I'm think maybe in the 90's to be used as a gimik to sound more street. anywayz....enuff of that yo! Soo the last 2 years I have been wanting to paint at this event/wall. This wall is perfect to paint on! It gets good light for picture taken the size is on point minus the shrubs, I for got to bring a Machete to fix that problem. Over all the event went off with out a hitch a about 300 people showed up and had about 50 or so graffiti artist showed up to paint.

Bando

Man, I have been on a graff spree lately, looking at old flicks , Style Wars, Subway art, etc etc.
I had to get this year started... I have been craving to paint my first piece this year. I have been drawing in my black book daily which helps keep the edge off, just a little, but it's nothing compared to actually going to a yard and paint and that doesn't even compare how it used to feel back when I used to paint illegally. But I'm 40 now 9 arrest a wife 2 kids and a family business. NOT WORTH IT!!! But I can't help to think of those moments out alone in the yards or on the side of the freeway painting my name. Ahhhhhhh.

Okay
Besides the graff....I'm still working on my other art in the mean time. This eats most of my free time. So It's nice to have another medium to work with that is different and doesn't take a lot of time to execute. The piece below only took me round 1 hr and 50 minutes to complete. Why am I so focused on how long it takes me to paint a piece? Well, two reasons. One I used to take for ever with my graff/aerosol pieces. It was not enjoyable anymore, especially when I would do technical stuff. (which I love doing) Some of my older piece's would take me weeks to do. I got to the point were I hated to paint commission murals etc because of the time it took and when I would show up to paint I only would work for an hour at a time.

The 2nd reason is this is how the actual act of graffiti writing was operated. You didn't have all night to paint maybe 8 hrs max, the faster the better with the eception of being clean, no drips runs or eras. So now I make a point to myself and blogging that I need to be quicker and more efficient with my pieces, the less time and paint usage the better for me. okay I'm done rambling!

Freestyle

I painted this for my Nephew in 2008 for his birthday. I normally don't freestyle pieces but for some reason (maybe being lazy) I didn't draw an outline. If I had it planned out it would of turned out way better, he loved it and was surprised to see it.

something

I'm ashamed to say, but this is probably my first complete drawing in my own black book since ....the 80's

Around the first part of 1990, I started decorating my black books with stickers, clipping, photos, etc. Because of these shenanigan's, I became paranoid to draw in them. I didn't want to make any mistakes and would be forced to rip out the pages or glue a clean sheet over it. What also added to my fear was Back in the 1980's I had at least a half dozen completely filled full color black books most were stolen, lost or I gave away.

So I just started working on outlines on loose paper. From the beginning of the 90's up until this week...Dec 13 2009. I mostly did my layout with a Bic pen or a pencil sketch's on some loose piece of paper. I would just freestyle my fill In's when I would paint the piece.

K street

I finally had the opportunity to at the K.St yard in the East Village this past June. I was offered to judge a breaking battle for an event, so I asked if I could paint as well. They agreed. But when I was driving down to the event I got a call form my Mum and had to be home 6pm to watch Miles, my Mother had to leave earlier then expected.

After showing up late, I was expecting to get shafted and was preparing to paint on a little side wall, since the other artist were supposed to show up by 1pm. I showed up around 3pm and had the place to myself. So I took advantage of the situation and snagged the big wall in the court yard of the MMA gym.

I got the wall buffed and while the buff paint was drying I went across the street to grab some goodies and found they carried my favorite pop. A Saratoga Springs classic Stewart's! Now if I can only find the spring water out here.

Brisk finally showed up a half an hour later. He was gripping in a friendly manner, because I took the wall he wanted... hahaha early bird gets the worm even if you are late. He also mention he was grumpy and had jet lag from being in Hawaii...boo hoo!

I love this 94 paint! I highly recommend it. The nozzle system is set up in a way that you can make a line thick or thin by simply applying pressure on the nozzle. For example, To get a thin line less pressure for a thicker line apply more pressure.

The paint is very opaque it has a smooth and steady flow to the paint no mater how fast you are going, you will hit a line that is consistant with your stroke. I also like how it is a matte finish thats great for pictures you wont get any glare. The only down fall is the price...like all European paints. But with this piece I only used 4 cans of 94 and one MTN.

BaG

I painted these two manga girls at the 30/60 yard in 1987. At the time I was inspired by and what we called "Japanese cartoons." The inspiration to paint this style of character instead of a "Bboy" style character or a "Bode" came by the way of me being addicted to Robotech.

New Years 1984

Tazz and Kaze at the 2 yard. Spring Valley,CA. 1984/1985

We painted this on New Years night in 1984 and finished it after midnight in 1985. I was 14 at the time and I wonder what excuse I gave my mom??? It was really dark and erie. We had to duck down and hide every time a car drove by us. It had to been at least a dozen times and every time this happened my heart would stop, because I thought it was the sheriffs putting the spots on us. We dedicated the piece to our Moms. We used growco paint and the nozzles that came with the paint... stock tips. We purchased or racked the paint from the Spring Valley Swap Meet, which is a stones throw away from the 2 yard.

Over all it's sorta "toy" but its not to bad for the times, especially from a couple of non subway writers. The "T" is terrible! I still dig the "Beetle Baily" and the "cloud" is cool. Believe it or not this piece made us famous, this is all due because of the location of the piece it was facing the only road into the Swap Meet which would get over 10,000 visitors in a weekend. This gave a lot of people its first glimpse of NYC style graffiti and inspired other kids to start writing.  This picture was probably taken by me with a 110. I really like the art deco house next to it.
