This is a Great Great book! Doze has the biggest spread in the book! I'm not surprised.... He is the king of Mugsy/B-boy type characters! That alone is worth the 35 dollar price tag of the book!
For me it was like looking through a time capsule. especially the Doze section. I had forgotten about his black book drawings. It has been 20* years since I last thumbed threw he's black books, random photos and drawings. out of site out of mind ,right? For me it was like opening up a time capsule. I did have some copies of the actual photos in my pre 1994 arrest collection along with some original photo copies of Brims characters and other tat crew gems that I had since 86.... This has brought back a lot of memories and it reminded me why I love subway graffiti.
*I intended to post this 2 years ago when I got the book*

Getting Up

"Getting Up" was the first book about NYC graffiti that I got my hands on, This is not my original copy. I had a hard back version of "GU" If my memory serves me correctly, it was an all black cover with a photo of a train on the front. I actually racked it from my Junior High school library when I was in the eight grade...and a bad ass! I'm not to sure what ever happen to that hard back copy, Im sure karma caught up with me. My 2nd copy which wasn't as cool, but was still a "first edition" was confiscated from the cops in 1994 when I got caught up with a sting operation. The one im holding in the photo is a copy I found online.

The New Testament
This book is a breath of fresh paint fumes in the number #1 tunnel.
A definite MUST HAVE!!!

I would have to say this is one of those brilliant ideas that should of been done years ago. Possibly in the 80's or early 90's. Especially With the state of graffiti now a days with ineligible lettering, bad lettering form, accompanied with wack fill-ins and the death of apprenticeship's and outlines being passed down through the generations. This book will help you and your buddies get back online again with style.
This book is filled with top notch outlines! Here are a few examples of freshness from some of my favorite writers that are featured in this book.

Man, this is realy making me want to drop the brush and practice some lettering....I'm going to have to hit some yards soon!!!

Storms The Man!

At the opening for my last show, Storm surprised me with this gem! He had it wrapped in a Japanese newspaper

I knew right away what it was. You can't hide that shape! At first I thought he got it at a local Japanese market in Costa Mesa, but he actually found it over seas. I wanted this book for awhile I even had an older post about it called "give it to me."
Thanks Storm!
