Mecha

Back in the 90's, Sheppard Fairy, Dave Kinsey, Persue, Zodak and I painted inside "Skratch" clothing store. I painted this scene with Gundam and Aegis (red gundam)
Yeah Yeah Yeah ....Woah!
I tried showing spider man 2 to miles the other day and trust me he loves his spider man! He could careless about the movie. Maybe to much going on, who knows? But when I showed him this...... he was hooked! It's strange what could keep a child's interest a big huge Hollywood production or a sweet Japanese version of Spiderman with a KICK ASS theme song* ...woah!
*TURN UP THE VOLUME*
This is the longest version I could find on the net. They messed with the subtitles some funny parts but man this is great!

Dondi's Chewy Squirrel

Well, Dondi's is at it again. Like I mentioned before in the post "Catstration". This time, he caught us a Squirrel. I loved squirrels when I was lad. Spending my summers in Saratoga Springs, NY. The squirrels and chipmunks would wondered near the back porch of my Grandparents house along with plenty of Blue jays and Cardinals. So I have a real soft spot for Squirrels.
Dondi's out of frame and ready to pounce.
Saved! After Dondi mauled it for a while under the porch.
(Note* the blood smear on the left lower corner. Dondi mangled a Gopher and I had to put it out of its misery. )
I caught charley #9 and let it go on the property next to us.
Unfortunately charley 9 came back the next day.
To be continued.

palette
I have been documenting my palette lately. I like the layers and the look of the different color combos and the textures it produces over a period of time for example Monet's pallet. It just makes it harder for me to see what I'm doing, so I choose the less "mad artist" way.
Doc'n your palette is also an excellent way for figuring out the forgoten color combos. In the past I would leave the old dry paint on the palette with out cleaning it. I started to notice it was harder for me to mix and make new colors with out struggle. So now I clean it after every session with a palette knife and some turp. After all the cleaning has been finished. I put a coat of gesso over the palette and then after the gesso dry's I add some Stand Linseed Oil to the top of the palette. This slows down the bottom half of my pigment.
